July 6, 2026: Important Notice - Hydrant Flushing in Cathlamet
Wahkiakum PUD is flushing hydrants near S 3rd and Maple Street on July 6, 2026.
Hydrant flushing tests water flow, helps to maintain the integrity of the pipe network and contributes towards the removal of sediment from the water lines. You may notice a slight discoloration in your water and/or decreased water pressure.
If your water appears discolored during the flushing period:
-
Run a cold water tap closest to your meter for a few minutes up to 15 minutes.
-
Keep the tap open until the water runs clear. If the water coming from the tap is not clear after running for 15 minutes, wait 15-30 minutes and try again.
-
Do not run a tap that has a water filter connected to it or the sediment may clog your filter.
-
Avoid running a hot water tap because it could draw sediment into your hot water tank.
There are no health risks associated with this action.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this essential maintenance event.
July 2, 2026: 2026 Tree-Trimming Program Underway
Davey Tree Surgery to trim trees along power lines throughout Wahkiakum County from July 6th through August 31st.
Public Utility District No. 1 of Wahkiakum County has kicked off its 2026 tree-trimming program with plans to clear vegetation along its power lines in Wahkiakum County to help enhance electric service reliability for customers.
Maintaining proper clearances and removing dead or diseased trees around electrical equipment can help reduce the frequency and duration of power outages, especially those associated with severe weather. Clearing vegetation under power lines also gives utility personnel easier access to inspect and maintain lines and make repairs quicker if an outage occurs.
Work will be performed along distribution power lines throughout Wahkiakum County. The vegetation management work is conducted by Davey Tree Surgery. Learn more about the District's Vegetation Management Program here.
